Dry Shampoo & Hair Powder
I have never liked to wash my hair. As a child, I would gladly eat a heap of veggies to get out of my hygenic responsibilities. While I don’t avoid cleanliess so much anymore, I still hate washing my hair; it looks frizzy, half-wavy and totally crummy. I have invested hundreds of dollars in the products my stylist uses, but to no avail.
Then I found out about dry shampoo, which is basically a powder that absorbs excess oil from your scalp, gives your hair some body and extends the time between washings. It’s simple and cheap to reasonably priced.
THE CHEAP: Cornstarch. $3.50
THE NOT-AS-CHEAP: Pre-packaged hair powders/dry shampoos. $7.99 and up
If you opt for cornstarch, just sprinkle a little at the roots and blend it into your hair. If you go for one of the spray-on products, usually you just spray and then rub it in, but make sure to read the label. The real advantage of the store bought stuff is that it comes in colors that may blend more easily and they can help disguise roots between visits to your colorist/stylist.
Of course, if you’re in the gym everyday, then you might want to actually get in there and scrub your scalp. But, on a regular day with minimal sweating, a simple shower and a little hair powder will totally do you right.
